Props to the director and production staff! One of the two best movies of the 70's. I think this movie beats out most of the hack and slash films of the 80's. A terrifying tale of ancient darkness and evil unfolds as an anthropologist Dr. A must see for any horror/supernatural enthusiast. An anthropologist/paleontologist and his daughter, while travelling through the southwestern U.S., stumble upon a colony of living, breathing gargoyles. You know it, Baby Cheesey plot and 1970s Fashion Yep This movie is a lot of fun and makes you long for the Drive-in theaters of yesteryear. This movie has a great story as well as a great back story (intro),Gargoyles waking up every 600 years. Will they survive the attack of the Gargoyles. They enlist the help of some "Dirt Bikers" including Glen a long with local authorities. From that point on scary things begin to happen. When skeletal remains of a mythical nature are discovered in the desert, an old timer calls in a well known college professor (Wilde) who brings along his daughter (Salt) as an assistant. I even got a kick out of old "Uncle Willy".
Veteran actor Cornel Wilde and up and coming Jennifer Salt and Scott Glenn were great. Great job Stan Winston ! The other characters were believable. Bernie Casey scared the hell out of me as the leader of Director: Andy Milligan Stars: John Miranda, Annabella Wood, Berwick Kaler, Jane Hilary. A murderous barber and his equally psychopathic friend, a baker, the barber and baker hatch a plan to murder and make human pies to be sold in his shop. Nothing at that time was being made especially for TV like this. Bloodthirsty Butchers (1970) R 79 min Horror, Thriller. As a young kid into "Creature Features", I was blown away. The first time I saw this was back in the late 70's. Gargoyles - Best TV Movie of the 70's (Horror) !
